Cho Min Chang

Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
So it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess,

Who is Your Character?
Full Name: Cho Min Chang
Nicknames: Professor Change
Age/Birthday: 23/November 15, 1978
House and Years Attended: Ravenclaw, Class of 97
Blood Status: Pureblood
Occupation (if applicable): Soon to be the Transfiguration Professor, Hogwarts
Alliance: Neutral, Order Sympathetic
Status in Society (see the Available Characters page for options)*: Living in Society
Boggart: Cedric
Patronus: Swan

Personality (include several weaknesses and strengths): Cho is a social person, though not quite as outgoing as she was in her youth. She will find something to talk to anyone about as long as its not herself. She does not talking about herself and would rather listen to the stories of others.

Cho has become a snob over the years. Those who she deems below her on an intellectual scale are often ignored or mocked. After submersing herself into her studies for so long, Cho has no patience for those who do not value education.

Her emotions are both her salvation and undoing. When Cho loves someone, that love will last forever. She will always be a friend no matter what happens. On the other side, Cho holds terrible grudges. If you wrong her or her friends, she will resent you for the rest of your life. There is nothing that can be done to earn her forgiveness. Cho lets her emotions get the best of her at times and can't see beyond them.

Cho will, however, go out of her way for someone if they truly wish to learn something or better themselves. She also has nothing but respect for those who know more than she does and never assumes herself to be better than them.

Family and Friends (list relationships with them):
In-Su Chang: Cho's father and role model. A retired Arithmancy Tutor, In-Su is firm and unyielding in his expectations of his only child. He expects greatness and when he does not see it, In-Su is hard with his criticism. He believes in traditions and demands his daughter not forget her heritage or culture. As such, In-Su can appear to be unloving towards his daughter, but the two of them share a love of knowledge and that love keeps them close. Cho credits her father for her success.

Jin Chang: Cho's mother is far less demanding than her father. A quiet and modest beauty, she embodies all the traits of a proper wife and mother. It was Jin who taught Cho how to walk, talk, stand, sit, eat and dance as a young lady ought to. She does not understand Cho's desire to work and forsake a family, but is very proud of her daughter regardless. Cho & Jin are very close and Cho would do anything for her mother.

Marietta Edgecombe: There are people in your life who should have been family and Marietta is the sister Cho never had. The two are very different in their goals and hobbies, but the girls share a love for each other than has lasted since their first year of Hogwarts. Cho is very loyal to her best friend. Together they have overcome death, broken hearts and tarnished reputations. Cho dislikes anyone who speaks ill of her best friend and will defend Marietta with her last breath.

Michael Corner: While she was rather unlucky with relationships in school, Cho considers Michael to be the one good boyfriend she managed to have. Their time together didn't end with death or physical scarring and that is a vast improvement over others. Their relationship didn't last past Cho leaving Hogwarts, but they have remained friendly since that time.

Aberforth Dumbledore: Cho's landlord. He's quite strange and Cho is convinced he belongs in Mungo's most days, but over the years she's developed a sort of fondness for the old man. Though she wishes he'd get rid of the blasted goats.

Appearance (paragraph minimum.): Short and delicate, Cho doesn't seem very intimidating. She stands at only 5'2" and weighs just about 100 pounds. She's quiet pretty with an oval face and almond shaped brown eyes. Her hair is thick, black and usually wore up into a twist to help make her look a few years old. It is quite easy to mistake Cho for just another pretty face and she looks several years younger than her age. To counterbalance this, Cho dresses in fashions beyond her years. Her robes are modest and when she's not wearing robes she dresses in trousers or knee length skirts and simple blouses.
PB: Zhang Ziyi
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Achievements (OWLS, NEWTS, Animagus, Quidditch, etc.):
OWLS: Potions (O), Transfiguration (O), Anicent Runes (E), Arithmancy (O), Charms (O), DADA (E), Herbology (O)
NEWTS: Potions (E), Transfiguration (O), Anicent Runes (O), Arithmancy (O), Charms (O), DADA (E)
Quidditch: Ravenclaw Seeker
Hobbies (Quidditch, Astronomy, Chess, Gob Stones):
Quidditch: Cho was always a Tornadoes fan. She enjoyed playing as well, but doesn't do it anymore. She will go out on her broom sometimes to clear her mind, however.
Chess: Cho enjoys playing both Western Chess & Chang-gi, a Korean form of the game.
Cooking: Though she eats most of her meals at the castle, Cho loves to cook and does so whenever she has the chance.

Biography (three paragraphs minimum):

Childhood: Born to In-Su & Jin Chang on November 15, 1978 in Ulsan, South Korea, Cho Chang spent the first few years of her life in a modest home and surrounded by relatives. News of the war in England had reached magical communities in other countries and though her parents wished for their daughter to have a better life than they did, England was too dangerous. The Changs lived in Korean until Cho was five years old. A few days after her fifth birthday, they moved into a simple cottage near Tutshill. Cho had a quiet and happy childhood. Though her parents tried for another child, they were never successful and Cho remained the sole receiver of both their affections and expectations.

Hogwarts: Like all children in her world, Cho received her letter for Hogwarts and headed off to Scotland to earn her education. The Sorting Hat took little time in sending Cho to join the Eagles. The smallest student of the year, Cho was teased by some of the older students, but her smile and sharp sense of humour helped her to become accepted quickly. As time went on, Cho grew in popularity. Always by her side was her best friend, Marietta, but Cho had many friends within her own house.

During her fifth year, one boy had caught her attention more than the others. He was a seventh year, tall, handsome and out of all the girls in school, he liked her. Cho was smitten and she and Cedric began dating shortly after the Yule Ball. It was the best time of her life and Cho's young heart was convinced she'd never love anyone like she loved Cedric. Of course, her teen-aged dreams were shattered when during the final task of the TriWziard Tournament, Cedric was killed.

The following summer and the next year, Cho suffered from a depression. The once popular girl pulled away from a lot of her friends and was often found crying. Despite feeling that it was wrong, Cho began to develop feelings for Harry Potter. It was a confusing time for her and when the opportunity to join the DA came, Cho took it. She didn't want to meet the same fate Cedric had. Plus, the boy she fancied was running it. Her decision to bring Marietta along, however, came back to haunt all of them when Marietta's mother pressured her into revealing the group to Umbridge. Once Cho saw the effects of the jinx Hermione Granger had placed on the parchment, she was furious. From that moment on, Cho wanted nothing to do with Harry Potter or his friends.

Cho's seventh year was the quietest year she had. Unhappy with her marks from the previous year, Cho's father pushed her to buckle down and refocus her attentions on her education rather than her social life. Cho allowed herself to remain on the Quidditch team and dated Michael Corner, but aside from those two distractions, she was dedicated to her studies. Long gone was the bubbly and outgoing girl of the previous years. Her time at Hogwarts ended quietly and Cho left the castle without any fanfare.

After The Takeover: A few short months after leaving Hogwarts, a change in power swept the country. Those who aligned themselves with the Order were quickly sent into hiding or imprisoned. While Cho agreed with their beliefs, she did not agree with their methods. She could hold a grudge and it was obvious that she was going to. Cho remained neutral and kept her views on politics to herself. The year after school, Cho took an apprenticeship with an Transfiguration expert. Her life was quiet and Cho liked it that way. There were no romantic entanglements to make her lose her focus. She could study and learn without distraction.

After her apprenticeship ended, Cho embarked on a search for her calling in life. It came from a very unexpected source. Hogwarts was looking for an associate professor of Transfiguration. Though she'd only been gone from the castle for one year, Cho felt a pull to return. She took a small flat in Hogsmeade above the Hogs Head. It smelled like goats and wasn't the cleanest place in the world at first, but it was all she could afford and it was rather close to work. After all, associate professors don't make very much money and Cho was determined to stand on her own. Her life remained the same for three years. Hogwarts became her life and Cho eventually turned her small, smelly flat into a home. Life was quiet and simple and Cho had found peace in that.
